Singer PASI KOSKINEN Quits AMORPHIS

Longtime AMORPHIS singer Pasi Koskinen has officially left the band, according to a posting on the group's web site. Pasi's last live appearance with the band will take place at the Kontu Rock festival on August 21. "All touring plans will go ahead as scheduled and rumors of a replacement already exist," the posting reads. "We are waiting for a statement from Pasi in the near future."

As previously reported, AMORPHIS are scheduled to support TYPE O NEGATIVE on a U.S. tour beginning in early October. Confirmed dates so far include the following:

Oct. 07 – Toad's Place – New Haven, CT
Oct. 11 - Irving Plaza - New York, NY
Oct. 12 - Crocodile Rock - Allentown, PA
Oct. 15 - Theatre of Living Arts - Philadelphia, PA
Oct. 30 - Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee, WI

AMORPHIS' most recent CD, "Far From The Sun", will receive its long-overdue North/South American release on September 7 through Nuclear Blast Records. The album will be packaged as a special version with three bonus songs, including an acoustic version of the title track, "Far From The Sun".

Koskinen will release the third album from his "black/dark metal" project AJATTARA, entitled "Tyhjyys" ("Emptiness"),on November 11 through Spinefarm Records. Recordings for the CD took place at Savonlinna's Sundi Coop studio, where AJATTARA recorded their earlier releases, "Itse" (2001) and "Kuolema" (2003).
